FOOTNOTE: David’s younger brother, Thomas Auchinclose, was transported to VDL in 1833 per Isabella. A flesher (butcher), he had been convicted at Edinburgh for theft by housebreaking and sentenced to 7 years (see his profile page at https://convictrecords.com.au/convicts/auchinclose/thomas/6649).

1828, 28 January: David Achinclose, 19, a sawyer of Home Street, Edinburgh, William Paterson, 19, a labourer of Morningside, Edinburgh, and John Morris, alias Morrison, 15, a wright from Swan's Close or Wester Portsburgh, Grassmarket, Edinburgh, were tried in the High Court for theft by shopbreaking. The Court records show: William Paterson, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession, Sentence: Transportation - 14 years. Note: Sentenced on same day (see JC8/22, f.54v).
