Prisoner discharged from H M Gaols, Hobart & Launceston, week ending 6 Dec 1871 and 2 Dec 1871. James Austin, per Lady Kennaway 2, F.S., tried at Hobart, on 2 Nov 1871, for non-maintenance, received 1 month, native place is Manchester, age 40 yrs, 5 feet 7 inches high, light brown hair, crippled in both legs. Tasmania Police Gazette, 8th Dec 1871, p198. Pauper discharged from the Invalid Depots, Hobart Town & Launceston from the 14 to 20 Mar 1872. From Cascades, Hobart, James Austin, per Lady Kennaway, admitted 17 Jan 1872, discharged 20 Mar 1872, at his own request, not able to work. Tasmania Police Gazette, 29th Mar 1872, p55.
