Thomas Avis was listed as 38 years old on arrival - he was born in Hadley, Kent., and was transported for 'Stealing Beef'. Previous convictions:for vagrancy 3 mths; again vagrancy 3 weeks; again tried & acquitted for felony; again tried & acquitted for felony. Thomas was 5'5" tall, brown complexion, hair, whiskers, blue eyes, left cheek considerably larg{er} than the right. S.J. rt arm, single, illiterate. Mother: Nancy Avis at native place; Brothers: Henry and James at Peckham. 1832 Muster: In Hospital 1833 Muster: In Hospital 7/4/1834: Thomas died in the Hospital at New Norfolk - he was listed as an Invalid and was buried on the 11/4/1834.
