Colonial Secretary Index. AYRES, William. Per "Batavia", 1818 1818 Apr 14 On list of convicts disembarked from the "Batavia" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution (Reel 6006; 4/3498 p.151) 1824 Sep 30 Of Emu Plains; sentenced to Port Macquarie for absconding. On return of fines and punishments inflicted by the Bench of Evan (Reel 6023; 4/6671 p.74) 1824 Oct 8 On list of convicts transported to Port Macquarie per "Sally" (Reel 6019; 4/3864 pp.488-9) Absconded. 4. William Ayres, Batavia, 43, Bucks, 5 feet 7 inches, grey eyes, light brown hair, fair ruddy complexion, Emu Plains. Sydney Gazette, 9 Sep 1824. It appears that on his recapture after absconding, (he was at large for at least 4 weeks), he was sentenced to spend the remainder of his sentence at Port Macquarie.

William Ayres, convicted of having burglariously entered the dwelling-house of John Buckby, in the parish of Newport Pagnell,  on the 31st of January, and stolen various articles— Death—Reprieved. Windsor and Eton Express, 27 July 1817.
