1862: Robert AYTON arrived in 1862 by assisted immigration on the ”Black Swan” after his uncle Edward AYTON was transported as a convict in 1837

Edward was 27 years old when transported for being in possession of stolen wool. Edward was married to Sarah Ram and had 3 children. 13/4/1839: Constable 15/1/1840: Constable ~ neglect of duty, to be dismissed. 2/9/1840: Still a Constable 23/3/1841: Constable: misconduct in being absent from his station – to be sent to the interior. 19/8/1841: TOL Later he set up a coach run from Nile to Deloraine. Married Mary Ann Moss/Hill – Mary Ann was the daughter of Edward Moss (Sarah 1837) – she married George Hill in 1849 and had 2 daughters – George died – then she married Edward Ayton – had 1 daughter in 1856 and then Mary Ann died a few days later – child died at 6 months. Married Hannah Woolnough (a free settler) 1 child, Edward Henry. Owned the Nile Hotel and 320 acres at Cressy, also a property called Calstock near Deloraine. 1875: Edward died and was buried at the Evandale Cemetery near Launceston.
