COURT MARTIAL: 19 June, 1833: John Baggerley was court martialled, convicted and sentenced to 14 years' transportation for desertion. He had twice deserted before, once punished with 300 lashes, and once with 35 days in solitary confinement. He said: "I was away 6 days this last time."
