Friday 19th April 1799 - the Hillsborough is moored off Cape Town "Fine and Pleasant Employed getting Coals out Coopers making Leagurs the Brig Weigh'd Anchor and put to Sea with a party of Soldiers to go up the Country Departed this life John Craig and Edwd Baily who was taking on shore and buried - charged 3/- per man and ordered to dig the graves at least 6 foot deep to prevent the wolves from ravaging the bodies
