James BAILEY was convicted at Somerset, England on 26 March 1825. Life sentence. Transported to Van diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Medway' arriving Dec 1825. Colony of VDL: Assigned to work parties and chain gangs. Numerous records of misconduct and punishments, including time at Port Arthur Penal Settlement. These times and supervision of convicts was very strict and harsh. Last note is dated Oct 1846.
