At the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, held the Guildhall, in and for this city, on .Monday and Tuesday last, the following prisoners were tried and received Sentence, viz…. and John Bailey, for stealing eight pair of trowsers, to be transported for seven years. Bristol Mirror, 21 Oct 1820.  of these 39 were tried on Monday and Tuesday, viz. ... and John Baily,Jun. for stealing trowsers, 7 years' transportation. Bristol Mercury, 23 October 1820.

Adamant: Surgeon’s Log: National Archives ADM 101/1/2/2 1821 Folio 1: 19th March 1821; received eighty convicts from the Justitia, No sick. Folios 24-26: John Bailey, aged 19, convict, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, fever, vomiting and pain in the head and pain in the epigastric region; put on sick list 31 May 1821, discharged 3 June 1821.

Given his Freedom 16th october 1827. Native place was Bristol as was the Trial 16th october 1820 Born 1802 5ft 61/4, Dark ruddy complexion, brown hair and Hazel eyes Scar on left eyebrow and wears earings.
