Transported for 'Stealing bacon'. Elijah Bainbridge was 15 years old on arrival. Native Place: Staffordshire. Elijah was 4'6" tall, ruddy, freckled complexion, light brown hair, brown eyes, LB on right arm, small diagonal scar centre of forehead, scar along left eyebrow, dots on left arm, scar at top of left thumb, and between forefinger and same. 17/3/1836: COF
Parents: Joseph BANBRIG and Ann. Born in Burslem Staffordshire, England in 1815. Was able to read. Was a potter's boy in England and a shoemaker in Queanbeyan in 1842. He eventually became a farmer in Canberra. Sang in the choir at St. John's, Canbery now suburb of Reid in Canberra. Sang at the opening of St. John the Baptist Church on 12 March 1845. Church warden at St. John's in 1864 and 1865.Married Eliza ALDRIDGE in 1840 at St. James, Sydney. She arrived in Sydney in 1838 with family and arrived in District with husband in 1841. They had 11 children. Both of them are buried in St. John's churchyard. Edwin's funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Piece Galliard Smith.
