WHAT IS your NAME?—On Saturday Inst, a young woman in the service of Mr. Thomas of Macquarie street, was charged with breaking open her master's door on Tuesday, the 2nd instant, for the purpose of getting out, and with absenting herself from that time until the night of the 4th. She was further charged with falsely epresenting herself on the evening of her apprehension, and also in the police court, as being one Mary Scarrol, per Waverly, a ticket of leave holder. The defendant said that she was a native of Armagh and had been convicted in the name of Margaret Bearn alias Wilson, and that she came to the colony in the Kinnear. She had been, once, in the service of Mr. Casper of Liverpool street, and Mr. Thomas said that the woman always "called herself" Margaret Wilson, while in his employ. She was at first put back for au hour or so, and then brought in again when the magistrate sentenced her to eight months within the female house of correction. Hobarton Guardian, 10 July 1850.
