Family connections for Jane Catherine (Baker) are: BAKER Jane Catherine (Baker) was born in 1770. She was tried for a felony at large at Louth Summer Assizes Dundalk? Ireland in August 1794, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 2 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS. She married firstly Bryan (Cunningham his first marriage) on 13 4 1798 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & produced 2children. She apparantly split from her husband before 1800, with her son staying with his father. Just after her husband died she was living at The Rocks Sydney, which she sold in 1810 & left the colony, apparantly leaving her son behind. [Some details taken from this website] Bryan (Cunningham) was born about 1768. He was tried at Dublin city, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 8 1793 after a voyage of 6months on BODDINGTONS. He now an emancipist & claiming to be a widower at Parramatta married secondly Frances (Waller) emancipist on 24 11 1800 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He died on 16 3 1802 age34 father of 2children & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. AGE - the indent (apparently made up on arrival in 1794) recorded her age as "25" years. Therefore, born about 1770. TRIAL DATE - Catherine Baker was tried at the Summer Assizes for the County of Louth in August 1794 — reported in the Irish newspaper "Freeman's Journal" at the time, and was not tried in March of the Lent Assizes as recorded on the indent for "Marquis Cornwallis": Freeman’s Journal 25 August 1794 ‘ASSIZES AT DUNDALK 'The following persons were tried before the Hon. Justice Boyd, at Dundalk assizes: 'Catherine Baker, found guilty of a felony at large - to be transported for seven years.'
Catherine was 26 years old on arrival. 1798: Married Bryan Cunningham (Boddingtons 1793) – they had 1 son John (11/2/1797-16/12/1856) he married Mary Cupitt. Bryan Cunningham died in Sydney in 1802. 21/4/1810 Sydney Gazette: To be Sold by Private Contract, a capital House now in the occupation of Catherine Baker, situate opposite Mr. Fraser's, on the Rocks, Sydney;-Also a quantity of useful Household Furniture.- Apply on the premises. 28/4/1810 Sydney Gazette: Catherine Baker being about to depart the Colony, all Persons having any Claims or Demands against her are requested to present the same for Payment immediately.
