Elias Baker was 21 years old on arrival in VDL and was transported for ‘Stealing wet linen’. Elias was 5’5” tall, black hair, brown eyes, reads, single, native place: Berkley, Gloucester. Father: William Baker at native place. Brothers: Leonard, Henry, Stephen, Thomas. Sisters: Eliza, Fanny, Jane, Mary Anne, Ann. Feb 1852: TOL 27/7/1852: Married Christianna/Christina Sheridan (daughter of Mary Sheridan per ‘Lord Auckland 1848’). They had 7 children. 26/5/1898: Elias died of chronic bronchitis and senile decay at Hobart. 28/5/1898 The Mercury, Hobart: DEATHS. BAKER.-On May 26. at his residence, 42, Molle-street, Elias Baker, in his 79th year. Deeply regretted by all who knew him. 18/1/1909 The Mercury, Hobart: DEATHS. BAKER. - On January 15, 1909, at No. 317 Elizabcth street, Christina, relict of the late Elias Baker, aged 75 years. "At Rest." Private interment, Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Sunday morning, 17th inst.
