19/10/1833 Staffordshire Advertiser Staffordshire, England: William Baker and William Stretton stood carged with stealing two tame geese, the property of Caroline Badger, as Essington. Mr. Godson conducted the prosecution. Mr. Corbett appeared for the prisoners. A man named Jones was called to speak to the character of the prisoners, but on cross-examination was obliged to confess that they had been in gaol before. The Chairman, in summing up, said, the evidence appeared quite insufficient in Stretton's case. Stretton acquitted, Baker Guilty. To be transported for seven years. William Baker was 36 years old on arrival - he was Protestant, Married with 2 male and 2 female children. Native Place: Staffordshire. William was 5'1½" tall, dark sallow complexion, black hair, chestnut eyes, scar left eyebrow, indented scar left cheekbone, three small moles lower left arm, slight scar right side of forehead, scar back of head, hairy mole left cheek.
