Upon arrival William was assigned to M. Vincent Howell in the Windsor and Wellington districts. William was also sent to Port Macquarie, where on the 16th of October 1833 he applied to marry fellow convict Elizabeth Reed who had arrived onboard the Kains, but this application was rejected. William obtained a Conditional Pardon on the 13th of September 1847. William applied for permission to marry Jane Heath on the 17th of August 1847 in Richmond which was successful. This union produced 9 children.
