William Balcome (31) tried Sussex Assizes 24 Mar 1823. Born Maidstone, Kent. Coachman & groom. 5'4", dark complexion, dark brown hair and grey eyes; one leg shorter. Assigned to Mr Balcomb on arrival. 1828: groom to Mrs Harriett King, Dunheved, South Creek, Melville. 1832: ticket of leave, district of Evan. 1837 Bathurst: refused permission to marry Martha Arundle (Sovereign, aged 57), as she was already married.
