Launceston Examiner 17 June 1897. BALLARD.-On the 16th June, at his late residence, 134 George-street, James Ballard, aged 82 years and six months. A respected resident of Launceston for over 50 years. (Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney papers please copy.) The funeral of the late Mr. James Ballard will leave his late residence, George street, on Friday, at 2 o'clock. Friends are invited to attend.-STORRER, Undertaker, St. John-street. Launceston Examiner 17 June 1897. MR. JAMES BALLARD. Yesterday morning Mr. James Ballard, a resident of this city of over 50 years, expired at his residence, George Street, at the ripe old age of 82. Mr. Ballard when a young man served in her Majesty's navy, and came to Hobart in a man-of-war vessel, which he left at that port, and immediately took up his abode. in Launceston. Deceased started business as a basket manufacturer in York Street, and a few years ago removed to George Street. He was one of the first members of St. John's Friendly Society, and took an active interest in its work. Deceased married 47 years ago, and leaves a widow and family of eight. There are five daughters and three sons, all of whom are married; some residing in the other colonies. The funeral will leave his late residence at 3 p.m. to-morrow
