Robert was baptised at CoE St Nicholas of Myra church on 10th October and was born between 24th July and 10th October 1819 - since he was 18yrs when boarded the Portsea but was 19yrs when arrived at Port Jackson and was already born by 10th October




Son of Thomas John Bannister and Elizabeth Geach. July 1839: Arrived at Moreton Bay per ‘Curlew’. He was assigned to the Surveyors Department of the 80th Regiment. November 1839: Transferred to a convict boat crew and crewed for Andrew Petrie a convict supervisor and an avid explorer. 1847: TOL 5/6/1849: Married Eliza McCreedy/McCready – they had at least 4 children. (Eliza was born in 1830 in Downpatrick, County Down, and died 06/01/1862 at the Ipswich Hospital. Eliza died of Tetanus, aged 32.) 1866: Married Mary Curran (died C1913)– they had 2 children. Robert lived in Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Tivoli and Town Marie. 14/7/1892: Robert died at the Ipswich Hospital. (Occupation listed as a ‘Timber getter’).
