Family connections for Ann (Banks) are: BANKS Ann (Banks) was born about 1765. She was tried for house breaking & stealing a callimanco gown at Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 17 10 1794 after a voyage of 8.5months on SURPRISE. She had a relationship with Michael (Dunn) from 1797 & produced a child. She was recorded in 1800 with her family at Ponds. She died in 1825 age60 at Benevolent Asylum Sydney & was buried on 8 11 1825 at St James Cumberland CofE (St James CofE Sydney?)-not shown in Smees records. [Some details taken from this Website] Michael (Dunn) was born about 1769. He was tried w/1other for shoplifting handkerchiefs etc of Mrs (Davis) at Chelmsford Assizes Essex on 9 3 1789, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship WILLIAM AND ANN. He was granted 30acres in 1792. He was Free by Servitude by 1797. He was recorded in 1800 with his family with 10acres cultivated at Ponds. He was an emancipist living at Clarence St when he died on 8 3 1829 age about60 & was buried as a Chelsea Pensioner (how come?) at St James CofE Cumberland Sydney. Ref: Trial Notes. ========== Voyage - See "Settlers and seditionists: the people of the convict ship Surprize 1794" ========== On the 15th March 1797, a daughter, Jane, was born to Ann Banks & fellow convict Michael Dunn (William & Ann 1791) Jane was subsequently baptised on the 28th May 1797, at St John's Parramatta. Ref: "The Women of Botany Bay" P Robinson. "Muster of Females" S Marsden. ========== Death 1825 - Benevolent Asylum Sydney. Ref: Certificate ========== Burial - Ann Banks. Abode Sydney. Age 60. Buried 8th December 1825. Ceremony performed Sydney. Registered St James Cumberland. Church of England. Ref: Burial Certificate
