John Bannon was 23 years old on arrival in NSW. He was born in County Down, Ireland and was single. His occupation was a soldier/jockey & labourer. 1854: TOL: Muswellbrook. 1860: TOL: Mudgee.

John was literate, Catholic, single, 5'8½" tall, fair ruddy and freckled complexion, dark red hair, grey eyes, angular scar on centre of upper lip, mole on back of neck, D under left arm, breast and arms freckled, brown blotch on each shin.
