Convict Notes




Tried and convicted at the Suffolk Quarter Session on 16th April 1833 for larceny, after a previous conviction of a felony, he was sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Left England on 4th July 1833. Ship:- the 'Aurora I' sailed with 300 male convicts on board, there were no reported deaths during the voyage. Arrived o 3rd November 1833. Daniel left behind in England a wife, Sarah, and 9 children, he had married Sarah Bugg, daughter of Samuel Bugg and Sarah Cook, on 26th July 1821 in Little Whelnetham, Suffolk. Daniel was assisgned to Mary Rutledge (nee Elliott), who's sister, Susan, daughter of convicts Richard Elliott ('Sugar Cane' 1793) & Elinor Bolton ('Rolla' 1803), was lodging with at the time, they ended up in a relationship that went on to produced 6 children between 1841-1855, no marriage details have yet been found.
