Convict Notes
1832: On arrival in VDL, he was 19, single and a ploughman. He was assigned to Joseph Archer Esq (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON27-1-5$init=CON27-1-5). 1835, 24 September: He was committed for trial for killing two sheep valued at 2 shillings each belonging to Joseph Archer for the purpose of stealing part of the carcasses. There is no entry about the outcome. 1838, September 28: Charged for having in his possession a coat valued at 10 shillings, belonging to David Reynolds. His existing period of transportation was to be extended by two years and he was to be kept to hard labour for 12 months. 1841: Received a Free Certificate (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-5$init=CON31-1-5p4).
1831, 18 October: Convicted for stealing six geese; he had a previous conviction for stealing fowls (6 months' jail). 1831, 1 November: Admitted to the prison hulk Justitia at Woolwich, aged 18. Sent from there on 11 February for transportation (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849).
