Crime: Stealing in a dwelling house - stealing property from house of James Dicay in Thames Street, Greenwich [Kent]. Initial sentence: Transportation for life. Gaoler's report: Character not known. Annotated: Nil. Petitioner(s): Edward Barker, labourer (the prisoner's father) undersigned by 14 people of Greenwich and Blackheath (names and addresses given). Grounds for clemency: The crime was trivial and the items stolen of little value; first offence; only a short sentence had been expected; the prisoner's father had not gathered his friends to speak on his son's behalf.
