9/4/1823: Married Mary Ann Manning (1801-25/11/1880) in Kelsale, Suffolk, Eng. 16/1/1829: Sluffolk Sesions: Sentenced to 7 years transportation for stealing a coomb of wheat and a sack, the property of Mr John Gooda of Kelsale. April/June 1829: Prison hulk Leviathan in Portsmouth: Bodily State: Phthisis Pulm. (Pulmonary TB). December 1829: Convict Muster: William Barley was 5'5 1/2" tall, ruddy and pock pitted complexion, dark brown hair, light hazel eyes, large diagonal scar under the left side of his mouth, the big toe on left foot inclined inwards, blue scar on the third finger of right hand. illiterate. Assigned to Mrs Harriet Lethbridge King - on a farm 'Dunheved' at South Creek. 26/7/1834: TOL 22/7/1834: Applied for his wife and 3 children to come to NSW. 1836: Listed as Barlowe, convicted of stealing an ox, the property of Sir John Jamison. Released on 2/9/1836 - 'free' on admission to gaol. 21/10/1836: COF C1837: Mary Ann Barley arrived with 4 children, child Henry William Barlow was born more than two years after William had been transported, (the father is unknown). They had 9 children. About this time, William Barley changed the family's name to 'Barlow'. William worked as a stockman, he later purchased land from his employer and farmed at Upper Castlereagh. 14/5/1873: William 'Barlow' died at Kingswood, NSW and was buried in the cemetery of the Wesleyan Methodist Church at Upper Castlereagh with his wife Mary Ann Barlow née Manning who died on 25 November 1890 at Penrith, NSW.
