Married Sophia Freeman on the 20th February 1838 at Parramatta, Sydney, and they went on to have five children. Conditional Pardon granted February 1841.

In the colony, Thomas married Sophia Freeman, 1838 at Parramatta. He was about 40 years of gae and she was only 15. Sophia was one of 9 children of Samuel Freeman (Convict, 1801, "Earl Cornwallis") and Elizabeth Smith (Convict, 1810, "Canada"). No children to Thomas and Sophia have been located.

Ipswich Journal Sat 14 Aug 1824 p.2....... PRISONERS... and George Woodgate, Stephen Baldry, Thomas Barnaby, Benjamin Hazelop and Israel Woodgate, for breaking into the dwelling-house of Stephen Capon of Hinton, and stealing six sacks of white clover seed, with the sacks; were all capitally convicted and sentence of death recorded.
