John Booth, Henry Powell, and White, for the daring burglary at Monkton Farm, Broughton Gifford, December  last—to be transported for life . and Abraham Phillips, the Jew who purchased the stolen property —15 years transportation.. 26/1/1843 Bath Chronicle and Weekly Gazette Somerset, England: LOCAL INTELLIGENCE THE LATE BURGLARY AT MONKTON FARM, WILTS. __In consequence of a clue to the discovery of the parties implicated in the atrocious burglary and robbery lately committed at the house of Messrs. Smith, in the parish of Broughton Gifford, of which we gave some account soon afterwards, several individuals were apprehended, and they were last week taken from the Bath City Gaol to Bradford for examination before the Wilts magistrates. Their names are—Wm. Barnes, 26, Worthy Barnes, 22, George White, 22, Joseph Helps, 20, and Jacob Hicks, about 30, who were charged as being the principals; and Abraham Phillips, and his wife, Elizabeth Phillips, as receivers. Sent to Norfolk Island. 30/8/1846: Arrived VDL Was then described as: 26 years old, 5'7" tall, pale complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, brown eyes. Born in Bath, Eng. 7/3/1853: Married Dorothy Ann Little (Duke of Cornwall), at Trinity Church, Hobart., Tas. Children: 17/12/1853: William b Hobart (Worthy listed as a Miller). 1/7/1856: Isaac b Hobart - died 1941 in Ballarat, Vic. (Worthy listed as a Milkman). 21/7/1856: Idalene May Barns, born Hobart. 1/7/1860: George, b Mido., Victoria. 14/1/1854: (Newspaper date) TOL. 1855: CP 6/5/1903: Worthy Barnes, aged 79, a farmer, died of old age and debility at Lal Lal, Victoria. Wife Dorothy Ann Barnes died in 1901 at Lal Lal. Mother Margaret Maholemy, father, John Little. She was born in County Tyrone, Ireland.
