Henry Barnsley was transported on the Waterloo, departing 30th May 1842 and arriving 23rd Nov 1842 with 220 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Convict Notes
Henry BARNSLEY (or BARNSBY) was convicted at Stafford. 15 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Waterloo' 1842, however it was shipwrecked nr Cape Town, resulting in a huge loss of life of 143 persons. It is reported that the convicts were kept locked until the last moment. Some convicts were transported on per the 'Cape Packet'. Henry Barnsley/Barnaby recorded as "drowned 12 August 1842".
