Correct spelling of family name is Barrie but variously spelled as Barry or Berry in Australia. Born Glasgow almost certainly on 15 March 1818. Father was Robert Barrie (hairdresser and seaman/boat master), mother was almost certainly Christian Kennedy. Almost certainly had a sister called Mary born 17 April 1820. Orphaned as a child. Father died on 21 Apri 1821 aged 27 after falling from his boat and drowning on the River Clyde. Do not know anything about the death of her mother. Married Thomas Archer (son of Thomas Archer and Monimia Frances Lowndes) on 7 Aug 1844 in Launceston, Tasmania. Had 7 legitimate children with husband Thomas. Lived in Launceston for the rest of her life. Died in Melbourne on way back to Launceston after visiting sons in Adelaide. Buried Carlton cemetery, Melbourne.
