9/3/1840 Salisbury and Winchester Journal Wiltshire, England: WINCHESTER ASSIZES James Castleman, Henry Batt, Isaac Barter, and Charles Shrimpton were placed the bar, charged with a assault and rape on the person of Eliza Carter, at Barton Stacey, on the 28th of July Last. Charles Shrimpton was on board Lady Raffles. James Castleman arrived VDL per 'Asia 1841' No ship for Henry Batt. Isaac Barter was 25 years old on arrival in VDL. He was 5'7½" tall, florid complexion, dark brown hair, and eyes, stout made, hairy mole on left cheek, illiterate. Married, wife Fanny and 2/3 children - at Barton Stacey. Lucy Barter baptised on 15/7/1838 at Barton Stacey. Maryann Barter born 1836 at Barton Stacey. On the 1841 census Lucy Barter is living with someone else, so perhaps her mother died. 23/1/1846: Tried at Hobart Supreme Court for the Murder of Alexander Mickie - found Guilty. To be hanged and anatomized. 7/3/1857: Aged 41 - TOL 5/7/1858: Recommended for a CP. 17/5/1859: CP 23/1/1860: Married Mary Ann Jones at Trinity Church, Launceston. He was a sawyer. No date of death found.
