Tried: Surrey Special Session of Gaol Delivery, 18 December 1826. Transportation 14 years. Ship ‘ASIA’ departed 25 July 1827 & arrived Van Diemen’s Land on 30 November 1827. Assigned to Mr WR. Webber. Joseph was granted a Pardon after serving 11years of his sentence (1838). Observations: charged with two offences only, both merely requiring admonishments since his arrival and has produced favourable recommendations. I am not aware of any family connection with Joseph Baskett. Because I have the surname BASKETT registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies, I am compelled to gather information on all and any with the surname BASKETT. Ann Spiro.
