Convict Notes




Convicted with Thomas Harbard for stealing six sides of bacon. Henry had two siblings who married 2 siblings of Thomas. Arrived Van Dieman's Land 4 August 1831. Several offences including allowing a prisoner to escape, while serving as a police officer - dismissed. Several more offences and further sentences until 1848 when a record of meritous conduct in extinguishing a fire. However Henry continued to commit offences. 16 March 1852 Ticket of leave granted and provision not to reside in district of Hobart. By 1853, Henry Bass had travelled to the goldfields in Victoria.
