Michael Wellesley BATEMAN..CONVICT. County of Birth Ireland. Convict Record..Michael W. BATEMAN 7th Feb 1831. Standing number of convicts he was No. 31 of 118 ( indent No:119). Age 19 years. Protestant, single and native of Cork, Ireland, Trade Indoor servant and shoemaker for 9 months. Michael was tried at London Middlesex, England, for the offence of Picking Pockets. He was delivered to Gaol on the 8th July 1830. The sentence was 'LIFE', never able to return to his homeland of Ireland, he had a former conviction of pickpocketing, imprisoned for two months..
