BEACHER Richard (tried with Jane CRAGGS q.v.) Appears on: A CALENDAR of the PRISONERS Confined in His Majesty’s three Gaols of Durham, Newcastle, and Northumberland, to take their Trials, February and March, 1830, before the Honourables SIR JAMES ALLAN PARK, and SIR JAMES PARKE, Knights. NEWCASTLE GAOL RICH. BEACHER, aged 21, and JANE CRAGGS, singlewoman, aged 23, charged with feloniously stealing, on the 28th Jan last, 1 table cloth, 2 yards of linen cloth, 1 pair of jean drawers, 1 cotton night cap, 1 sharping steel, 3 knives, 3 forks, 1 pair of scissars, and 1 book, property of Robert Macharg; and 1 muslin cap, and 1 cotton apron, property of Agnes Macharg. The said Richard Beacher and Jane Craggs, also stand charged, on the same day, 2 silver tea spoons, value 5s., 1 pair of plated sugar tongs, value 6d., 2 lambs’ wool stockings, value 6d., 1 pair of woman’s shoes, value 1s., and 1 shoe horn, value 1d., property of Edw. Married to Jane ...., who was in the service of Mrs. Ogilvie. 31/01/1839: Baptism of daughter Jane, Newcastle district. Father listed as a sailor. 23/10/1843: Burial of infant daughter Rececca. Newcastle district. 1850: Recorded as a boat pilot, Newcastle, NSW. 1851: Wife Jane died. Buried at Church of Christ, Newcastle, NSW. 26/01/1856: On list of electors for district of Newcastle.
