Lawrence Read (or "Beads" on the ship indent), was sentenced at the Dublin Tholsel in December 1792 to 7 years transportation, along with Morgan Bryan (per Sugar Cane) for together stealing money from a till. Lawrence was transported on the ship "Boddingtons" arriving in NSW in August 1793. Freemans Journal, Tuesday 18 December 1792 p.4 TRIALS at the THOLSEL WEDNESDAY 19 DECEMBER "Morgan Bryan and Lawrence Read, for stealing a till [sic] and 10s in halfpence, out of the warehouse of Mr Terence Gorman, found guilty to value of 4s 9d, and sentenced to be transported. Laurence was recorded on "Boddingtons" indent as Laurence BEADS, aged 21 and Morgan, aged 20, was transported on ‘Sugar Cane’ with surname “Brien” arriving one month after Laurence in September 1793. _______________________________
