John Beal[e] married Rosetta[Rose] Johns[t]on in Parramatta 1818.Rose had a daughter Catherine who'd arrived with her,free. John's wife was emancipated in 1821 so was able to hire him out as a paid worker.By 1824 he worked as an overseer on Robert Craword of Prospect's farm,clearing. He later worked for Hannibal MacArthur. He was still a convict in 1841. He helped raise Rose's grandchild Charles, son of Catherine, who named one of his sons after John. He died in 1850
