In the Journal maintained by Thomas Braidwood Wilson, Surgeon Superintendent of the ship Richmond, Joseph's surname is recorded, apparently incorrectly, as Bale.
Leicester Assizes.— … and Thos. West, Jos. Beale, Robt. Parkinson, and Richard Kirby, for breaking into the house of Robt. Freer, in Leicester, and stealing a large quantity of tea; were also sentenced to death. —were severally sentenced to death.
