Convict Notes
Norfolk Lent Assizes. William Bean, alias Church, for burglary in the house of Mr. Joseph Ashworth, draper, of Outwell. Bury and Norwich Post, 26 Mar 1823.
At the close of the trials, his Lordship proceeded to pass sentence of death upon Ann Rummer, Elizabeth Trindle, James Drury, Wm. Bean alias Church, Wm. Shreeve alias Jefferies, alias Read, Wm. Steel, John Alden alias Rutts, Robert Morley, Thos. Williams, Thos. Cooper alias Draper, and Thos. Smith alias Johnson, Wm. Bone, Sand. Fitt, John Fitt, Thomas Wiles, John Lock, Wm. Bray, Edward Turvy, Matthew Craven, and Saml. Baccy; but all were reprieved before his Lordship's leaving Thetford, except Bray, to whom he gave not the least hopes of pardon, but most impressively exhorted him not to lose one moment in preparing himself to undergo the dreadful sentence of the law.
