Old Bailey Proceedings Online (www.oldbaileyonline.org, version 8.0, 12 July 2020), January 1787, trial of ELIZABETH BECKFORD (t17870110-67). ELIZABETH BECKFORD, Theft > grand larceny, 10th January 1787. 226. ELIZABETH BECKFORD was indicted for stealing, on the 26th of October last, twelve pounds weight of Gloucester cheese, value 4 s. the property of Henry Austen . The prisoner was taken instantly with the cheese. GUILTY . Transported for seven years . Tried by the first Middlesex Jury before Mr. Justice WILSON.
