She was involved in a riot on the 14 Feb 1829 at the Cascade female factory (recreated by sir Tony Robinson in TV series about Australia ep 3). Sarah had 2 children, that I can find, with George Hopper Grace born 1832, Frederick born 1834 & 1 with Henry Weston Sarah born 1840 died 1841. She is my gggggmother through Grace. Henry Weston remarried, another Sarah, on 12/2/1844 in Launceston.

I deciphered Sarah's conduct record in Hobart after her arrival, between Feb 1827 and Dec 1829 thus: Sarah Beckley's conduct Record in Tasmania Sir Charles Forbes 1827 Convicted 6 April 1826 Feb 21, 1827 Bent / Absconded from the service of her master 16th and remained absent till 21st. To be confined in a cell and fed on bread and water for 4 days, returned to her master. (PS) June 8, 1827 Chapman / Absconded from her ..... on the 4th inst. and remained absent until approached yesterday by Constable Yates in Argyle Street, to be confined in a cell 14 days and ap..... to Country Service (PS) Jan 26, 1828 Mazetti / Neglect of duty, one week solitary confinement at New Norfolk and then returned to her master (WHH) March 6, 1828 F Marzetti / Insolence and disobedience of orders , a fortnight solitary confinement at New Norfolk and 6 months C Claf Female Factory (WHH) Oct 29, 1828 Parramorc / Absented herself Monday last and not returned till this morning. Cell on bread and water 7 days at C. Claf(?) 3 months (PS). Feb 14, 1829 House of Correction, disobedience of order and attempt to create a riot in C Claf yard in the female House of Correction on Sunday last the 8th inst. Solitary cell 5 days (PS) Dec 28, 1829 I.E.Cox / Dishonorable conduct in having a man secreted in her bedroom in her master's house on Saturday last and also with absconding from her service the same (day) and remaining absent until she surrendered herself this morning. Cell on bread and water 6 days at C Claf House of Correction (PS) Note. The reference to "C Claf" House of Correction is referring to the Cascades Female Factory, a House of Correction at 16 Degraves Street South Hobart which operated from 1828 to 1856. Sarah Bowden (nee Beckley) died 5th December 1893 at Deniliquin NSW.Buried 6th Dec 1893. Deniliquin NSW Leaves husband Richard Bowden, and children Clara,Edward,,George William,Alfred,Thomas James 1 Male 3 Females Deceased.

Sarah Beckley POLICE NUMBER 104 Convicted at Middlesex Gaol Delivery. Conviction Date and Sentence 6 April 1826. 7 years. Transported for Larceny. Gaol REPORT. Here before. Single Stated This Offence.Stealing in a dwelling house In custody before,6 months for same offence.Single Ship's Surgeon's Comments.A very quiet indolent girl. Discription Native Place London Trade. Housemaid,can wash and iron. Literacy.Cannot write. Height 4ft 11 1/4 in. Age 19 (1827) Hair brown Eyes brown Colonial Experiences 1827. 21 February Absconding from the service of her master on the 16th and remaining absent till the 21st.To be confined in a cell and fed on bread and water 4 days and returned to her master. Sarah Beckley was convicted at Middlesex on 6 April 1827 for stealing from a dwelling house. Previous conviction for same offence. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Sir Charles Forbes', arriving 03/01/1827. Assignments of service in Colony. Some records of misconduct & time at Female House of Correction, Hobart. Application for Permission to marry George William Hopper on 07/09/1830. (George now free, but transported on Phoenix). Certificate of Freedom 1833
