James Beeson was 27 years old on arrival in VDL - his brother, Charles was also on board. Transported for Burglary - Housebreaking prosecutor a Lady named Cooke at Native Place, Kingsell, 4 times imprisoned, once for poaching 3 months, again for poaching 6 weeks, again 3 months for Beef again 12 months for a Frock, once for Assault 6 months. James could read & writes a little, 5' 8 1/4" tall, light brown hair, blue eyes, sallow complexion. Married 1 child, Wife Caroline at Hertford, Mother: Elizabeth 6 Brothers: Charles transported on board; john, william, thomas, samuel, job; 2 Sisters: Mary, Sarah all about np. Occupations: Ploughman, Farm Labourer, Baker-5 years. 1835 Muster: Public Works. 28/2/1844 Cornwall Chronicle, Launceston: James Beeson, in the service of Mr. Hyross, who examined on suspicion of a breach of trust. It seems that his master had entrusted him with a sum of money for the purchase of laths, and, being absent longer than was necessary, it was suspected that he had made away with the cash. It appeared, however, that he had not done so, but had got himself drunk, and was in consequence confined in the watch-house. The money was safe in the hands of the keeper. Under these circumstances the case was of course dismissed. 7/11/1845: TOL 8/6/1846: CP No further marriage or children found. 27/11/1878: James Beeson died of cancer of throat, mouth and head at the Cascades Invalid Depot, and was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Paupers section.
