On making inquiry he ascertained that his name was Christopher Bell, that he had been employed as shepherd by Mr. Thornton, of Maneroo, who had discharged him for losing sheep ; that, being helpless and infirm, Mr Dawson, the police magistrate of Cooma, had sent him from that place to Queanbeyan ; and that at Queanbeyan, the police magistrate had supplied him with rations, and paid a carrier to bring him to Goulburn. Brought here, he seems to have been abandoned. He was afforded shelter in the lock-up, and being on Tuesday brought before the bench, and his statement being taken down in writing, he was sent to gaol for fourteen days.-Goulburn Herald.
