James was 5'7" tall, fair complexion, sandy hair, blue eyes, little finger slightly crippled, inoculation mark on left arm above elbow, slightly freckled. Mother: Margaret Father: John (convicted with James and also onboard) Brothers: Robert, Thomas, William, John. Sister: Sarah Mother and siblings (except John) came out as free passengers per Anne Thompson, arriving 22 Apr 1851. John arrived per Great Tasmania 1857 with wife and children. 18/7/1848: TOL 21/4/1851: Free Certificate. Colonial Times (Hobart, Tas. : 1828 - 1857) Friday 1 June 1855 p 2 James Bell prosecution witness in court in a case of theft. 25//4/1854: Married Elizabeth O'Neil at St. Joseph's, Hobart.
