On list of male prisoners of the Crown who had arrived in the colony 1828 - 1832. Age 17. Assigned to John Burke at South Creek. 64297 William Bell 1838 14 April. Newcastle gaol entrance books 1838 Committed for trial for highway robbery. Sent to Sydney gaol. William Bell 6 January 1847 - State Archives NSW; Series: NRS 12210; Item: 4/4407; Roll: 1023 5ft 5 3/4in; ruddy complexion, brown hair, bluish eyes. Scar under the tip of chin. Tattoos sun on upper right arm etc. Was transported to Norfolk Island for life 7 May 1838 for highway robbery. Granted a Certificate of Freedom 6 January 1847.
