James Bellam was 30 years old when convicted of stealing a high top boot from the house of Matthew Kitchen, farmer, the property of William Lawis, farm servant, at Butterwick. James was single, able to read but not write, with a bad character, respectable connections and good health. James had a previous conviction for a felony at Lincoln QS on 11/1/1831. 1843: TOL Yass 17/2/1846: TOL Passport, on recommendation of the Tumut Bench. Found no other references to James BELLAM, could he have changed it to BELLAMY ??
