Benjamin Carver was transported on the Royal Admiral, departing 30th May 1792 and arriving 7th Oct 1792 with 349 passengers.
The Royal Admiral was built at Lynn in 1828. Convicts were transported to New South Wales on the Royal Admiral in 1830, 1833, 1835 and to Van Diemen's Land in 1842. 1833 - Ship; Royal Admiral. Commenced fitting as a Convict Transport at Deptford on the 29 March. Surgeon Superintendent [Andrew Henderson] joined on the 3rd April. Guard embarked on the 13th. Sailed on the 17th and anchored in Kingston Barbour near Dublin on the 9th May. 220 convicts embarked on the 16 May 1833 and the ship sailed from Dublin Bay for Sydney on the 4th June and arrived there on the 20 October. Originally embarked with 221 convicts, 5 Died at sea, 1 was Relanded. 11 sick on shore, The convicts were described as 220 such wretchedly debilitated creatures ... Family connections for Benjamin (Carver) are: CARVER Benjamin (Carver), son of John/Benjamin (Carver) clergyman & Ann (Meadows) & brother of ??? clergyman, was born about 1768 & became a grocers boy running a grocers shop perhaps at Pitt St Pancras parish or Carnaby St London. He married ??? (???) & produced a family. He was tried for highway robbery at Old Bailey, sentenced to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 10 1792 after a voyage of 5months on ROYAL ADMIRAL. He was Free by Servitude in 1792 & married secondly Sarah (Dibbs) on 10 10 1792 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He lived at Hawkesbury & settled in Windsor. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 30 9 1794. On 27 4 1820 he was constable & poundkeeper on low lands Richmond. He died on 3 1 1822 age54 at Richmond father of 6known children & was buried at St Peters CofE Richmond. [Some details taken from this Website] Sarah (Dibbs) was born about 1772. Father of Benjamin was indeed Rev John Carver and his mother was Ann Meadows.
Have found conflicting parentage Benjamin. Accept he the son of Reverend John. Recent discovery has Benjamin parents as Benjamin & Ann Meadows. Will anybody come back & talk to me???
We know believe that Benjamin's wife to be Sarah Dibbs was known to Benjamin in England and she was listed as a soldiers widow on the Royal Admiral so she could travel to Australia with Benjamin. She wouldn't have been able to travel as a "free woman". Benjamin's father Rev. John Carver was very well connected and it is believed that he arranged this. Not sure how true it is - could be hearsay but I have heard it from more than one source but I don't have any concrete proof.
Benjamin was a grocer in Carnaby St London. I have been researching him for 30+ yrs and now found new info about him and Sarah Dibbs in London Interested in contact with other descendants researcchers

Benjamin was about 24 years old when indicted. He kept a grocer's shop in Pitt St, Pancras parish. At his trial he seemed to be quite well educated and spoke well, saying that it wasn't him. Both his father and brother were clergymen of the church. 30/9/1794: CP 21/2/1897: Issued an illegal pass. Lived in the Hawkesbury area. 27/4/1820: Was Constable and Poundkeeper in the low lands of Richmond District. Benjamin died at Richmond and Sarah died in 1839. They had 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys.
Within a few days of arriving at Sydney Cover, he married Sarah Dibbs, a sailor's widow whom he met on the voyage from England. They settled in the Windsor district.
