John was illiterate, Protestant, single, 5'5" tall, ruddy and slightly pockpitted, brown hair, dark grey eyes, mark of a burn and two small moles under right jaw, scar inside right thumb, J x B, heart pierced with two darts, J x B and scar inside lower left arm, scar on heel of left hand. 12/12/1854: COF
