William Bennett was 20 years old when transported for "Stealing Sails". 1837: Assigned to A W Scott, Newcastle 26/9/1837: Assigned servant to A W Scott - John Jones remanded on a charge of assaulting Bennett. 16/1/1838: Sentenced to 50 lashes for pilfering, Newcastle. 31/8/1842: COF 1847: Labourer from Essex - Admitted to Newcastle gaol. 25/5/1856: Married Harriet Manser (from Essex) at St George NSW. They had 7 children. 16/8/1904: William died at Balmain.
