Bridget BENSON was convicted at Sligo, Ireland on 7 March 1849 for burglary - stealing clothes. 1st conviction. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Earl Grey' 1850. Aged 25yrs; widow, 1 child; country servant; 5'1 1/2"; Roman Catholic. Native Place: Co. Sligo Brother: Patrick Note on her file that she applied to have her family brought out to Tasmania. (ref. CO386/154)
