Family connections for Emma (Berks) are: BERKS Emma/Amy (Berks/Burke) was born about 1771. She was tried at Stafford Assizes Staffordshire in 1797, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship NILE. She was known also as Emma (Berks/Vernon). She was recorded in 1806 with Ticket of Leave with William (Davis), whom she later married) soldier & a child. She was an emancipist in 1811 when she married William (Davis) formerly with NSW Corps on 6 9 1811 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She was Free by Servitude by 1814 when she was recorded as off stores with 3children off stores, wife to William (Davis). She died on 3 7 1818 age47 & was buried at St Lukes CofE Liverpool. [Some details taken from this Website] William (Davis) arrived in NSW as a private with NSW Corps on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6.5months on Fleet ship CANADA; he was detached to (Townson)s company. He was sent to Port Dalrymple Tasmania in 1805 with (Grosser)s company. He was recorded in 1806 as a soldier with Amy (Burkes) & a child. He was detached to (Paterson)s company in 1807, still at Port Dalrymple. He was discharged on 14 6 1808 & 'claimed by a civil power'-perhaps the police. He was recorded in 1808 as 5'7.5" round fair complexioned visage dark brown hair green eyes.>>> Amy/Emma (Berks/Burke) & William (Davis) produced 3children: 1.William (Davis) was born on 27 11 1806 (perhaps while his father was in Sydney on duty). He was recorded in 1806 with his parents. He was baptised on 19 4 1807 at St Phillips CofE Sydney (or recorded there). He was recorded in 1814 as off stores with his mother. He died on 19 8 1835 age28. 2.Jane (Davis) was born on 4 2 1810 & baptised on 8 9 1811 age19m at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She was recorded in 1814 as off stores with her mother. It may be she who is recorded in 1822 with her father. 3.Sarah (Davis) was born on 4 2 1814. She was recorded in 1814 as off stores with her mother. She was baptised on 24 7 1819 at St Lukes CofE Liverpool. It may be she who is recorded in 1822 with her father. He is recorded in 1822 as landholder of 210acres with his family. He was recorded in 1822 living with his wife Ann (Daniels) at Liverpool. He died on 20 5 1823 age57 at Airds father of 5or6known children & was buried at St Lukes CofE Liverpool. [In Smees records William (Davis) is clearly identified as a soldier from CANADA in 1801. However, a child born 1793 is not found; & Ann (Daniels)s entry on this Website does not support him having the extra relationship with Rosetta (McAllister).] Ann (???/Daniel/s) was born about 1767 or 1774 married firstly (1of3) Thomas (Daniels). She was tried at Newcastle upon Tyne Quarter Sessions Northumberlandshire, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 1 1814 after a voyage of 5months on WANSTEAD. She is recorded in 1814 as off stores with Ticket of Leave. She was recorded in 1822 living with her first husband W (Davis) at Liverpool. She married thirdly Daniel (Burrows) farmer of Campbelltown on 23 2 1824 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She died on 7 12 1827 age60 or about53 at General Hospital Sydney & was buried, as (Burrows nee Daniels) emancipist, at St James CofE Sydney. [Some information taken from this Website] .. >>>This William (Davis), not identified in Smees records, may have had another relationship with Rosetta (McAllister her first relationship). (a William (Davis) is recorded as came free with 3children off stores on 2 10 1818 at Hobart town. He perhaps produced 3children in his lifetime. Rose/etta (Mccollister/McAllister aka Rose (Morgan)) was born about 1787 probably in Liverpool Lancashire. She was tried at Liverpool Lancashire Quarter Sessions on 6 1 1807, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 11 1808 after a voyage of 9months on SPEKE; she was 5'11.5" fair ruddy complexion brown hair hazel eyes. She produced 1known child in her lifetime. [Some details taken from this Website] William (Davis named without a christian name) & Rosetta (McAllister) seem to have produced 1child-between the first 2with Amy (Burke): 1.William (Davis) was born on 11 1 1809 & baptised on 11 10 1809 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He married Elizabeth (Edwards perhaps her second marriage) on 14 9 1829 at St Peters CofE Richmond. He was recorded in 1830 as a carpenter. ..Elizabeth (Edwards) was born on 18 10 1810 & baptised on 4 9 1814 age3 at St Peters CofE Richmond. She may have had a first relationship & produced a child. She died on 5 11 1870 age60 mother of at least 2children. ..Details of Elizabeth (Edwards)s family are given in entry for Rowland (Edwards ADMIRAL BARRINGTON 1791) on this Website. ..William (Davis) & Elizabeth (Edwards) produced at least 1child: ..1.Ann (Davis) was born on 28 10 1829 at Richmond & baptised on 7 11 1830 at St Peters CofE Richmond. In the colony, Amy married William Davis (Convict, Scarborough, 1790). They married December 14th 1811, but had been together since about 1804. They had 3 children between 1806 and 1814. William had already been in a relationship with Jane Reid (Convict, Lady Juliana, 1790) and had 2 children with her, whilst on Norfolk Island. These two had been left with their mother when William was transferred to Sydney.
