Age 21, height 5ft 7 ¾, Blacksmith 2 years, Tried in Antrim, 10 years, Native place, Monaghan, How appropriated- Twelve months. -------------------------------------------------- Conduct Record: https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-7$init=CON33-1-7p54 1571. Bernard Duffy, Tried Antrim 22 July 1840, 10 years. Transported for burglary. Stated this offence- burglary- Belfast, once for ? 12 mos – I was Deserter when tried for this offence- I was a Deserter about 1 mo. Single. Has been a soldier. Surgeon’s report: Overseer, an active useful man, very steady. Remarks: General conduct very good, active & very industrious. (overseer) 1 Sept . Offences. 8 Oct 1841. Bridgewater, Absconding & insubordination in violently resisting the constable in execution of his duty. Existing term of transportation extended eighteen months. Drowned at Bridgewater 10 November 1841. ---------------------------------------------------- INQUESTS.—An inquest was holden last week at Bridgewater before T. Mason Esq., on view of the body of Barnard Duffy, a probationer, who was accidentally drowned in a well, which be was attempting to descend for the purpose of recovering a bucket which had fallen down.
